New Integrated Library System

The Bracebridge Library is excited to announce that it will be migrating to a new integrated library system (ILS) on Thursday, April 20, 2023. An ILS is the computer software a library uses for checking in and out library materials, searching the collection, registering new members, and more. With the new software, the online catalogue will also be updated and have a new web address.

“There are many projects happening behind the scenes right now to improve library service and prepare for the new library building next year. Migrating our primary software is just one of the projects we have been working on. Library staff will experience the most changes since the staff side of the software is quite different. Library members will see a variety of improvements and new features we can now offer.” – Sarah MacNeal, Technical Services Coordinator

New features of the ILS include automated renewals, improved e-notices, and item categories to enhance finding library materials in the catalogue. Improvements have also been made to the online catalogue. The new online catalogue will have an easier way to sign in, a book river, and read-alike suggestions. The updated online catalogue will be available as of April 20 and will be available through our website.

Library services will be limited from April 17-19 for the migration’s final data load. Circulation will be limited to checkouts and borrower registrations. Library items returned after 3:30 pm on Saturday, April 15 will not be checked in until Thursday, April 20. Library due dates have been adjusted to note that no library materials will be due during this time. Regular circulation services will resume on Friday, April 21.
