Library mourns passing of ‘remarkable individual’
Evelyn Brown, a long-time member of the Bracebridge Library Board, has passed away.

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Evelyn Brown, a cherished member of our library board and a truly remarkable individual. Evelyn was a one-of-a-kind woman, an inspiration to many, and deeply dedicated to everything that makes Bracebridge special.
Ev’s unwavering commitment to our community knew no bounds.
She was actively involved in every facet of our town – from health to heritage, education to fundraising, literacy to activism. Her unique ability to nurture and support others while keeping us focused and moving forward was nothing short of legendary.
To allow our library staff and community to pay their respects, the library will open at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, rather than the usual 9 a.m. All morning programs and room bookings on that day will be cancelled.
We thank you for your understanding as we navigate this unfathomable loss to the library and the community as a whole.
This loss is deeply felt by all who knew her.
While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in honouring her legacy by caring for one another and continuing her work in strengthening our community. The Bracebridge Library family will miss her terribly, as will countless others whose lives she touched.
Evelyn’s spirit will forever remain a part of our story.
