Recommendations must have been published within the last year. However, older titles may be requested for borrowing through the interlibrary loans service.

The Bracebridge Library offers a variety of unique collections beyond just books!

Adventure Kits
The three adventure kits available to borrow from the Bracebridge Library include a day-use permit that provides access to many of the parks operated throughout Ontario for one vehicle and its occupants.
The kits include a backpack, compass, binoculars, Peterson Field Guide, Muskoka Trails map clip, and an Ontario Parks guide.

Autism Support Kits
The Bracebridge Library has curated kits designed to address the communication and emotional needs of children with autism.
These can be borrowed for up to three weeks at a time.

Board Games
Borrow a board game from the Bracebridge Library to challenge loved ones! A wide range of games is available, suitable for all ages.

Consoles and Video Games
The Bracebridge Library has PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles that can be borrowed for up to one week at a time. It includes the necessary cables and controllers.
A selection of video games for both consoles, along with the Nintendo DS & Wii and Xbox One & Series X are also available to borrow.

Film Scanner
The film scanner turns negatives and slides into high-resolution 22MG JPEG images. No computer, photo-editing software, or driver installation is required.
The scanner allows users to adjust brightness, red, green, and blue (RGB) colour correction, flip, and mirror directly on the device.

Grief Support Kits
This grief support kit is designed to provide comfort, education, and practical coping tools for children navigating the loss of a loved one.
There are two support kits: one for children (5 – 8 years) and teens & adults.

Karaoke Machine
The Karaoke Machine is an all-in-one entertainment system with a built-in speaker, two wireless microphones for duets, and easy volume control.

Light Therapy Lamps
Light therapy lamps are designed to mimic spring and summer light levels and help treat the “winter blues” or Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Please consult a doctor before using a therapy lamp.
The Bracebridge Library is not liable for any health issues related to using the lamp.

Musical Instruments
The library has a wide variety of musical instruments, including an acoustic guitar, banjo, and electric drum pads.

Orion Telescope
The Starblast 4.5 Altazimuth Reflector Tabletop Telescope is available to borrow from the Bracebridge Library. It allows users to view galaxies far, far away, distant cloudy nebulae, and sparkling star clusters.

Portable Projector
The portable projectors available to borrow from the Bracebridge Library offer connection through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. They are compatible with Apple and Android devices, laptops, media streaming devices (like Roku), gaming consoles, and other devices.

Programming Devices
The Makey Makey is an invention kit that lets you turn everyday objects into touchpads that you can control.
Botley 2.0: The Coding Robot is a screen-free coding robot that introduces children to programming concepts without needing a screen. Instead, children use a handheld remote to enter a sequence of commands that Botley follows.

Puzzles
The Bracebridge Library has puzzles available for all skill levels.

Science North Pass Backpack
The backpack includes everything you need for your trip to Science North and Dynamic Earth in Sudbury!

Seed Library
The Bracebridge Library offers a full Seed Library thanks to a partnership with the Bracebridge Horticultural Society.

Shuttle Loom
A shuttle loom is a type of weaving loom that uses a shuttle – a small, boat-shaped tool – to carry the weft thread (the horizontal thread) back and forth through the warp threads (the vertical threads).

SMPL Music Player
The SMPL Music Player is designed to be easy to use. Music begins playing once the lid is lifted and stops once it is closed. Songs can be changed at the push of a button.
It plays any MP3 file, including audiobooks and comes pre-loaded with a selection of big band-era songs.

Tool Library
The Bracebridge Library has a growing tool collection. It includes various items to help you maintain your vehicle or home.

Victor Reader
The Victor Reader Stratus allows users to access Digital Accessible Information System (DAISY) books, music, and more. It is designed to be user-friendly and has accessible features.
eBooks and eAudiobooks
Anyone with a Bracebridge Library card has access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, and digital magazines.
TumbleBook Library
The TumbleBook Library has eBooks for young readers across a variety of reading levels. It utilizes interactive stories, animated books, read-a-longs, and puzzles to make reading fun for children.

Audiobooks
Books on CDs
Audiobooks on CDs typically come on multiple discs. They can be played with most CD players.
Playaways
Playaways are portable, pre-loaded audiobooks. Each Playaway is loaded with one book. They have large buttons and a headphone jack that works with most headphones.
eBooks and eAudiobooks
The Libby app offers scalable fonts for most eBooks. Dyslexia-friendly fonts and read-along books for young readers are also available.
Centre for Equitable Library Access
Bracebridge Library cardholders with a visual, physical, or learning disability may be eligible for service from the Centre for Equitable Library Access.

Large print
Large print books and magazines are designed to make reading easier for those with low vision.
DAISY Reads
Digital Accessible Information System (DAISY) audiobooks are easy to use and feature accessible controls, including buttons to change the speed or narrator tone.
Literacy books
Literacy books are designed to help adults improve their literacy or learn how to read English. Popular authors write many books and cover a variety of subjects and genres, such as mystery and romance.
Children
Dyslexia-friendly print
Dyslexia-friendly books use a special font, layout, and vocabulary to assist readers.
Autism kits
The Bracebridge Library has two autism kits. Each kit is designed for families to try out different tools and resources.
The Communication and Emotion kit includes games, charts, books, and tactile devices to help children learn communication skills and read social situations.
The Calming Kit includes games, books, charts, and tools to relieve stress and anxiety.
