Recommendations must be current (published within the last year). Older titles may be requested for borrowing through our interlibrary loans service.

Autism Support Kits
Bracebridge Library is proud to be able to provide families with a curated kits designed to address communication and emotional needs of children with autism. These kits have a 3-week loan period and allow families to try specific materials to see how they work.
Play Station Gaming Console
Bracebridge Library has a PS4 gaming console that can be borrowed for 1 week, complete with cables and controllers.
SMPL Music Player
The SMPL Music Player has been designed by experts to be the easiest, simplest music player on the market. Simply lift the lid to start the music playing, push the button to advance to the next song, and close the lid to stop. The perfect device for a loved one who enjoys their music, but struggles with complicated or fiddly devices. Plays any MP3 format files, including audiobooks. Comes pre-loaded with a selection of Big Band-era songs.
Tool Library
Are you looking for a specialized tool for that short-term project? Bracebridge Library has a growing tool collection that includes items from slide scanners to automotive code readers.
Light Therapy Lamps
Light Therapy Lamps are designed to mimic spring and summer light levels and help treat the “winter blues,” or Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). People with medical conditions and those taking certain medications should consult a doctor before using light therapy lamps. Use of the lamp is at your own discretion. Bracebridge Library is not liable for any health issues related to the use of the lamp.
Ontario Parks Day Passes / Adventure Kits
Our adventure kits come complete with a complimentary day-use permit that provides access to 1 vehicle and its occupants to more than 100 parks throughout Ontario! These kits also include a backpack, compass, binoculars, a Peterson Field Guide, a Muskoka Trails map clip and an Ontario Parks guide.
Seed Library
In partnership with the Bracebridge Horticultural Society we now offer a full Seed Library. From fruits and vegetables to a wide variety of flowers we can help you with your new garden.
Portable Projector
Do you have a big presentation or want to have a family movie night? Check out our portable projector that is easy to use and offers connection through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. This machine is compatible with an iPhone, iPad, Android device, laptop, smartphone, TV stick, Xbox, Switch, PS5, etc.
Puzzles
The Library’s puzzle collection is perfect for those who love puzzles but who may not want to purchase their own! We have an assortment of puzzles that vary in sizes and complexity. See link below. The Library also accepts donations of complete puzzles in good condition.
Board Games
Let the games begin! Borrow a board game from the Library to take home and play with friends and family! We offer a wide range of games for all ages. To search and place a hold on a puzzle, see link below. The Library also accepts donations of complete board games in good condition.
Film Scanner
Preserve your valuable by turning your negatives and slides into high resolution 22MG jpeg images. No computer needed, no complicated or expensive photo-editing software or driver installation required. You can adjust brightness, RGB colour correction, flip and mirror directly on the scanner.
Victor Reader
The Victor Reader Stratus gives you access to DAISY books, recorded books, music, and more. User-friendly and accessible. The Victor Reader Stratus is an audio player for everyone.
Orion Telescope
Starblast 4.5 Altaximuth Refelector Tabletop Telescope. A perfect telescope for beginning amateur astronomers thanks to its uncomplicated design and high level of performance. Your Bracebridge Library card gives you free access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, and digital magazines.
eBooks for kids with TumbleBook Library
The TumbleBook Library has eBooks for young readers at a variety of reading levels. Interactive stories, animated books, read-a-longs, and puzzles make reading fun.

Audiobooks
Books on CD
Audiobooks on CD typically come on multiple discs. They can be played with a CD player.
Playaways
Playaways are portable, pre-loaded audiobooks. Each Playaway is loaded with one book. They have large, simple buttons. Playaways have a universal headphone jack that can be used with headphones or an aux cord.
e-Books and e-Audiobooks
The Libby app offers scalable fonts for most e-books. Dyslexia-friendly fonts and read-along books for young readers are also available.

The Bracebridge Library has two autism kits. Each kit is designed for families to try out different tools and resources.
The Communication and Emotion kit includes games, charts, books, and tactile devices aimed to help children learn communication skills and read social situations.
The Calming Kit includes games, books, charts, and tools aimed at relieving stress and anxiety.

Large print
Large print books have larger font to make reading easier for people with low vision. Large print Reader Digest magazines are also available to borrow.

DAISY Players
DAISY players are used to play DAISY audiobooks. They are easy to use and have features for listening to DAISY audiobooks (e.g. buttons for changing the speed or tone of the narrator).
Adult literacy books
These books are designed for adults improving their literacy and/or adults who are learning to read English. Many books are written by popular authors. They cover a variety of subjects and genres including mystery and romance.
