Library membership is free to all permanent residents or property owners in the District of Muskoka. To obtain a library card, bring in a piece of identification with your CURRENT address, such as a driver’s license, vehicle ownership, hospital card, or utility bill. Children younger than 14 years of age will require a parent, guardian or caregiver to sign up with them.

Non-resident memberships are available for a $50 annual fee or $26 for 6 months. You’ll need to come into the library to pay and provide your contact information.
Please remember to bring your library card every time you visit.
Members may check out a maximum of 25 items in total on their Library card. For new material, patrons can check out up to 5 new books and 2 new DVDs.
- DVDs & Video Games: 1 week loan (max. of 12 per card)
- Books (print & audio books): 3 week loan
- Magazines: 3 week loan.
Library materials may be renewed TWICE, with the exception of NEW materials or any material on which another library patron has placed a hold. Renewals can be completed on your account through the website, over the phone or in-person.
A hold may be placed on materials in the library or those currently checked out. Holds can be placed online through the Library catalogue, over the phone or in-person. You will be notified via email or telephone when your hold becomes available. After receiving notification holds must be picked up within 3 days.
Library materials may be returned in-house at the Circulation desk or via the book return. The book return is open 24hours a day.
Fines & Fees
Patrons accept full responsibility for all materials check out on their accounts and for any fines associated with lost, late or damaged materials. Materials which are overdue are subject to the following fines:
- Juvenile materials $0.15 per day
- Adult Materials $0.25 per day
If your Library card is lost or stolen, please report it to the Library immediately to prevent further use.
Lost or damaged cards can be replaced for a $3.00 fee.
