Search online resources

Online resources link you to articles and information from Canadian and international newspapers, magazines, encyclopedias and radio interviews. They cover a wide range of topics like genealogy, the environment, politics, economics, social issues, consumer reports, health, the sciences, the fine arts as well as "how to" help for your home and car repair. Through our online resources you can:

  • Read ebooks (electronic books) for children, for teens and for adults
  • Search the Library's subscriptions to newspapers, encyclopedias and periodical articles
  • Online databases are available to those with a Bracebridge Public Library card. Click on the link to each database and enter your Library barcode (Patron ID) when prompted to do so
  • Reference staff can assist you in locating other electronic resources.

New to ebooks?

The Bracebridge Public Library provides access to a wealth of ebooks and audio books through the Ontario Library Service Download Centre (OVERDRIVE). To get started, check out the Overdrive help page which provides information on downloading Adobe Digital Collections or Overdrive's Media Console, the free software you'll need to borrow and download ebooks and/ or media files depending on your device. To find information on how to register and download titles to your particular device, tablet or ereader, link to Overdrive’s Digital Help page, Choose Device Resource Centre to view a list of compatible devices. Once you have found your ereader, click on Support to link to detailed instructions and frequently asked questions about how to set up your device and start downloading materials. The site also offers a number of helpful videos on how to get started with your particular ereader.

Bracebridge Library cards need to be renewed every three years. A valid card is required to use OverDrive.
